HARD ROCK HOTEL PENANG CELEBRATES 10th Anniversary of Rock to Rock Run with RM50,000 Raised for Education

15 June 2025

Hard Rock Hotel Penang celebrated a major milestone today with the 10th Anniversary of its iconic charity event, Rock to Rock Run, welcoming 2,015 runners of all ages to participate in a morning of fun, fitness, and fundraising.

Held at the hotel in Batu Ferringhi, the event successfully raised RM50,000, bringing the hotel’s total charitable contributions through the years to RM546,000 since its inception in 2010. The total funds raised will be equally distributed, with RM25,000 allocated to each beneficiary.

This year’s edition focused on education and inclusivity, supporting two meaningful causes:
1. Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Ferringhi
The local government school will use the funds to refurbish a classroom into a safe, inclusive space for students with disabilities — marking the second collaboration between the school and Hard Rock Hotel Penang.

2. Caring Hearts Berhad
A non-profit organisation that provides education to refugee and disadvantaged children in Penang, will receive funds to sustain their educational programmes and reach more children lacking access to formal schooling.

Staying true to its mottos: All Is One, Love All – Serve All, and Take Time To Be Kind, Rock to Rock Run 2025 continues to exemplify how private initiatives can create meaningful public impact, aligning closely with the Penang2030 vision of fostering a family-focused, green, and inclusive society.

The event was officiated by YB Daniel Gooi Zi Sen, Penang State EXCO for Youth, Sports and Health, who flagged off the runners with an encouraging speech on the role of youth empowerment and healthy living in nation-building.

Representing the Chief Minister of Penang, YB Syerleena Abdul Rashid, Member of Parliament for Bukit Bendera, extended heartfelt congratulations and reaffirmed the state government’s support for community-centric and CSR-driven events.

“Events like Rock to Rock Run are more than just races — they are platforms for unity, giving, and building a healthier Penang,” said YB Daniel Gooi Zi Sen.

“Congratulations to Hard Rock Hotel Penang on a decade of consistent service to the community. The state is proud to support initiatives that align with our Penang2030 vision,” added YB Syerleena, speaking on behalf of the Chief Minister.

The event was co-organised with the Penang Amateur Athletic Association (PAAA), and received support from the Penang State Sports Council and Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang. Major partners included Decathlon Malaysia, Sanyu Sdn Bhd, Lee Sportswear International Sdn Bhd (Spin), and Howei (M) Sdn Bhd.

Generous sponsorships came from Eden Workforce Consulting, Pentech Solutions Sdn Bhd, Bold Excel Services Sdn Bhd, FCS Computer Systems Sdn Bhd, Butterfly House (PG) Sdn Bhd (Entopia) and Spectrum Music Sdn Bhd.

The 2,015 registered runners this year ranged from children to senior participants, many of whom returned year after year — some for a decade. The run also featured a Top 10 Best Dressed Award, where participants turned heads with creative and colourful outfits.

“Seeing so many familiar faces return year after year reminds us why we do this,” said Mr. Michael Smeeton, General Manager of Hard Rock Hotel Penang.

“This run is more than a tradition, it reflects our long-standing commitment to giving back to our community. I’m proud of our band members who have worked tirelessly, embodying our Hard Rock values — All Is One, Love All - Serve All, and Take Time to Be Kind.”

To keep spirits high, the morning wrapped up with a live performance by Manusia Band, and Rock Spa pop-up offering post-run muscle relief. Lucky draw prizes added extra excitement to the morning, with winners walking away with memorable tokens, room vouchers and goodies.
