For an especially beautiful Davos hike in Winter, we recommend the Hohe Promenade. The rolled or cleared paths offer a wonderful view of the town’s famous flat roofs. From the Schatzalpbahn overpass you can get a bird’s eye view of what is perhaps the most magnificent ice stadium in the world. While the winter hike along the Hohe Promenade is a tour to savor, this one is for sporty travelers. Hike along the Thomas Mann Trail and follow in the footsteps of the famous author all the way to the Schatzalp. From here, the trail continues steeply up to the Strelapass, where an observation terrace awaits you. Enjoy a magnificent view of the Chüpfenflue, the Schiahorn, the Haupterhorn and, in the distance, the Tinzenhorn.
This winter hike is particularly fun because after the hard work of the ascent, you are rewarded with a great downhill surprise. From Davos Frauenkirch you head up to Stafelalp at 1894 meters above sea level. There the time-honored Berghaus Stafelalp awaits, where you can warm up and recharge with fondue or rösti. A wooden sledge, which you can borrow free of charge on-site, will take you down to the valley.
